The Georgia Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as Georgia Tech or Tech, was founded on October 13, 1885 as the Georgia School of Technology. Alexander, William P. (William Prindle), 1881-1956

William Anderson Alexander (1889-1950) graduated from Georgia Tech in 1912 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, he became a mathematics instructor and assistant football coach under John Heisman. In 1920, he became head football coach, a position he maintained until his retirement in 1944.
